Ukrainian Easter Eggs

Ukrainians immigrated to the area btw 1900 & 1910 and another wave arrived in the 1930’s. They coalesced around the Ukrainian church of South Deerfield in the Pioneer Valley keeping many traditions, including the painting of Easter eggs. The geometric designs connect to ancient nature symbols while the painted eggs represent the continuance of life.
