Elm Leaves

First planted in 1800, and scores more fifty years later, elms graced Greenfield’s Main St. Sadly, most succumbed to the Dutch Elm Disease in the 1950’s.  However, a disease resistant variety of the elm has been developed, and on Arbor Day ceremonies, such elms have been planted and organizations such as Greening Greenfield have been strong supporters of the planting of more trees.
