Sugaring from the Maple Trees

The County houses backyard maple syrup makers as well as farmers who collectively produce upwards of 75,000 gallons a season for market in late winter and early spring.  A beloved tradition, some few farmers still collect the sap from their groves (that needs to be boiled down 1-50) using the work horses pulling sleds/wagons & taking the sap to their sugar shacks for the boiling down;   often, a time for jokes and storytelling.  Others now collect the sap using plastic tubing; methods are continually evolving.
