The lady slipper flower — also known as the moccasin flower — is a much admired wild native orchid, found in wet meadows and woodlands, used for her healing powers and honored in Native American legends. Now its state is precarious; there are warnings NOT to pick her, as her propagation is unique and rarely takes to transplanting.
