Franklin Hollow Woolen Factory

Built in 1830 on the west side of the Fall River that marks the boundary between Turners Falls and Greenfield, the mill made the finest of doe-skins and broadcloths.  Later during the Civil War it made woolens for the union army;  shortly thereafter, operations ceased.  Vandals burned it in 1938 but its bell tower remained as a reminder of Factory Hollow’s greatness.
