GREENFIELD — A community project to refurbish the mural overlooking Veterans Mall has been delayed until June.
Rebecca Tippens, who organized the project, said it will now begin June 2, as rain and cold weather would have prevented volunteers from meeting their Memorial Day deadline.
The mural, which features images of Franklin County landmarks, including Poet’s Seat Tower and the Eunice Williams Covered Bridge, was painted in 1990. Tippens decided to organize a volunteer effort to repaint it after noticing the condition of the mural, which has faded over time.
The project was originally scheduled to begin May 12.
